Sunday, February 28, 2010 - At 10:46hrs on 28/2/10 crews from Mt Barker and Woodchester were alerted to a grass fire, Scrubby Hill road Wistow. Woodchester 24, Barker 34P, Barker 24 and Air support water bombers responded to the call. Water bombers gave the first report of a grass fire burning well and commenced water bombing operations, on the head of the fire. The fire was soon contained by ground crews burning approximately 2 hectares. The fire was started by a ride on mower. During the afternoon Mt Barker crews also responded to large tree blocking Native Avenue Mt Barker, a two car MVA Main Street Hahndorf and a 3rd alarm rural fire at Blewitt Springs. Barker 24 returned to station at 2300hrs.
