Mount Barker Country Fire Service is located on the South Eastern Freeway in the Adelaide Hills 35km East of the City of Adelaide, South Australia. The Mount Barker brigade is the largest brigade within the Heysen CFS group with it's primary response area covering 124 square kilometres with 17 square kilometres of this area being Urban including Housing, Nursing Homes, Hospitals, Schools, Shopping Malls, Hotels, and Industrial areas. Mount Barker responds to an average of 380 emergency calls a year with over 35% of these calls being Motor Vehicle Accidents. Mount Barker is home to the Busiest Rescue in the Country Fire Service and prides itself on the professional fire and rescue service it provides to Hills residents.

BUILDING FIRE MT BARKER

At 07:13 hrs on 21/7/10 Mount Barker & Littlehampton fire-fighters were alerted to a Building Fire, Mann St, Mount Barker. Barker Rescue and Barker34P responded to the call. On arrival crews found a going fire in the main room of the community building. The fire was quickly brought under control, only damaging one room. The fire was believed to be started deliberately. Crews were back in station by 0947hrs.


 
   
   
HOUSE FIRE ECHUNGA

At 19.34hrs on 19/7/10 Mt Barker CFS crews were responded to assist Echunga and Meadows CFS at a House fire, Scottsburn Street Echunga.  Mt Barker 34P responded to the call. On arrival crews reported a single story House fully involved in fire.  Barker crews were back in station by 2130hrs


 
ROAD CRASH WOODCHESTER

At 0814 hrs on 16/7/10 Adelaide fire responded Mt Barker CFS crews, to back up Strathalbyn and Woodchester brigades, at a road crash rescue, Wellington road Woodchester.  Mt Barker Rescue crew responded to the call. On arrival crews reported a single car roll over, with one person trapped. Barker Rescue was back in station by 10.00hrs


 
   
   
EARLY MORNING CAR FIRE

At 03:02 hrs on 30/05/10 Mt Barker CFS Crews were alerted by Adelaide fire communications, to a reported Car Fire, Welt Street Mount Barker. Rescue and 34P responded to the call, on arrival Rescue's OIC reported a single vehicle well involved in fire. Crews wore Breathing Apparatus sets and quickly knock down the fire. All Barker appliances were back in station at 04.00hrs


 
2ND ALARM HOUSE FIRE NAIRNE
Wednesday, May 12, 2010

At 17:57 hrs on the 12/05/10 Nairne & Littlehampton crews were alerted to a house fire North road Nairne. Nairne 24P and 24 responded to the call, with multiple 000 calls received the fire was automatically upgraded to a 2nd alarm, with Mt Barker 34P & Rescue added to the call. On arrival the incident controller gave the first report of a two story dwelling well involved. Firefighters starched multiple hose lines and don air sets, controlling the fire within 30 minutes. Barker crews were back in station by 1930hrs.


 
   
   
DOUBLE FATALITY SOUTH EASTERN FREEWAY

At 04.21hrs on 24/4/10 Fire service communications alerted Mt Barker CFS crews to a road crash, South Eastern freeway Mt Barker. Barker Rescue and 34 pumper responded to the call. On arrival the incident commander reported a single car crash into a tree, with one patient trapped and another ejected from the vehicle, both suffering fatal injuries. Fire-fighter made the scene safe and stayed on scene to assisted SAPOL.Crews later removed the driver’s side of the car releasing the trapped occupant.  CFS crews were back in station at 1000hrs.

EARLY MORNING HOUSE FIRE

At 01:46 hrs on 22/04/10 Brukunga & Nairne fire-fighters were alerted by a 000 call, to a reported House Fire, Smillie St, Brukunga. Brukunga 34 & Nairne 24P responded to the call. on arrival the OIC reported a single story house well involved in fire, The incident was upgraded to a 2nd alarm, with Mt Barker 34P responded. Crews took 50min to control the fire. Barker crews were back in station by 0300hrs.


 
TWO TRAPPED IN MT BARKER CRASH

At 11:14hrs on 10/04/2010 Fire Communications alerted Mt Barker CFS crews to a Road Crash Flaxley Road Mt Barker. Barker Rescue and 34 Pumper responded to the call. On arrival crews reported a two car MVA with two persons trapped. Mt Barker fire-fighters used holmatro rescue equipment to release the trapped patients. Echunga fire-fighters were also called to provide traffic control and fire cover at the incident. Mt Barker crews were back in station by 13:00hrs.


 
   
   
TRUCK & GRASS FIRE
Friday, March 12, 2010

At 13:18 hrs on 12/03/10 Mt Barker & Hahndorf crews were alerted by Adelaide fire communications, to a reported truck fire paechtown road Hahndorf. Barker rescue and barker 34P responded to the call. On arrival crews found a grass fire around a drilling truck, that had become entangle in ETSA power lines with one person trapped on the rear of the rig.  Crews stopped the fire from spreading to a near by house and reassured the trapped man until the power was shut off. During the incident barker 24 also responded to an MVA clean up on Dumas street Mt barker. All crews were back in station by 1530hrs.


 
   
   
RURAL FIRE WISTOW
Sunday, February 28, 2010

At 10:46hrs on 28/2/10 crews from Mt Barker and Woodchester were alerted to a grass fire, Scrubby Hill road Wistow. Woodchester 24, Barker 34P, Barker 24 and Air support water bombers responded to the call. Water bombers gave the first report of a grass fire burning well and commenced water bombing operations, on the head of the fire. The fire was soon contained by ground crews burning approximately 2 hectares. The fire was started by a ride on mower.  During the afternoon Mt Barker crews also responded to large tree blocking Native Avenue Mt Barker, a two car MVA Main Street Hahndorf and a 3rd alarm rural fire at Blewitt Springs. Barker 24 returned to station at 2300hrs.
